White Night Melbourne 2014 Announce Full Music Lineup

The organisers of Melbourne’s White Night 2014 have unveiled the full music programme for this year’s event, offering an impressive lineup of local talent, including Client Liaison, Beaches, The Murlocs, Baptism Of Uzi, and Black Cab, as well as an interactive tribute to rock legend Prince.

The event will run from 7:00pm to 7:00am on Saturday, 22nd February, offering visitors exhibitions, street performances, fashion, multimedia installations, film screenings, live music, as well as interactive events set to take place in the sprawl of venues and public spaces throughout the city.

The musical centrepiece of the event, the Northern Lights Stage, will be relocated from last year’s place on Flinders Street Station to the State Library on La Trobe Street, where punters will be able to enjoy the electric dance pop grooves of Melbourne’s own Client Liaison.

Joining them will be more local muscle in the form of the ladies from Beaches, who’ll delight punters with their ethereal psych-rock. Rambling ten-piece soul outfit The Cactus Channel will make an appearance, as well as psych-poppers Baptism Of Uzi, and the singular stylings of Lost Animal.

Melbourne-bred drone duo Black Cab will have their most recent, critically-acclaimed EP in tow. Titled Go Slow, it’s the follow-up to the pair’s 2009 album Call Signs. Joining them will be the hard-edged R&B of local stalwarts The Murlocs, as well as Teeth & Tongue, and Fraser A Gorman.

Fans of interactive art and Prince‘s classic album and notorious film, Purple Rain, will be able to experience one of the most popular projects of French artist Pierre Ardouvin, a unique visual-audio installation that invites you to grab and umbrella and take a walk in the purple rain.

The event will also feature the J + R&B Music Stage, programmed by Julie O’Hara, presenting jazz, rhythm and blues, swing, boogie, ska, soul, roots, and contemporary a cappella music from some of Melbourne’s premiere live bands, including The Hoodangers and Andrew Nolte’s Orchestra.
