Bay City Rollers Vocalist Les McKeown Dies, Aged 65

Les McKeown, the vocalist of Bay City Rollers, has died at age 65. The Scottish singer passed away at home on Tuesday, 20th April.

In a statement, McKeown’s family wrote, “It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our beloved husband and father Leslie Richard McKeown.”

“Leslie died suddenly at home on Tuesday 20 April 2021. We are currently making arrangements for his funeral and ask for privacy after the shock of our profound loss. Thank you.”

Les McKeown fronted the Scottish pop group, Bay City Rollers from 1973, when he replaced original vocalist, Gordon “Nobby” Clark.

Les McKeown and co were responsible for massive hits like ‘Bye Bye Baby’, ‘I Only Wanna Be With You’, and ‘Shang-a-Lang’.

The band ended in 1978, but rejoined for a reunion tour in 2015.
