PREMIERE: Drunk Mums Drop New Ripper ‘Phantom Limb’, Announce Album & Tour

Drunk Mums have dropped the drunk motherload. The Melbourne punks have slapped us about the earholes with a aggro new jam dubbed ‘Phantom Limb’, and chucked in a massive album and tour announcement to boot!

“[‘Phantom Limb’ was] written in April, recorded in May. Usually we test songs out on crowds first before recording so this is a fresh new thing for us,” the band explains, adding that the garage-y tune was “recorded by bass player Adam Ritchie and mastered by Mikey Young, because we felt he needed more work”.

On the subject of the track’s sonics, the Mums declare that ‘Phantom Limb’ “half sounds like what our dads would [have] listened to and the other half is what our younger fans would chuck on”.

So modern triple j-core indie dad rock then? Dune Rats meets The Sex Pistols maybe? Either way, it bloody well SLAPS.

‘Phantom Limb’ has been lopped off Drunk Mums’ freshly announced forthcoming album Urban Cowboy, which is scheduled to land in November (pre-order here).

And to celebrate the disc’s arrival, the band are heading out on the road for a run of 10 east coast tour dates, supported by their New York m8s, Dirty Fences.

Catch all the details — and take ‘Phantom Limb’ for a spin — below.
