Amy Shark Drops New Single ‘Weekends’, Announces Debut EP ‘Night Thinker’

Hottest 100 runner-up Amy Shark has returned with her highly anticipated new single ‘Weekends’, the follow-up to her breakout song ‘Adore’.

‘Weekends’, which was produced by Dan Hume (who’s previously worked with the likes of Matt Corby, Daniel Johns and Courtney Barnett), will feature on an upcoming six-track EP from Shark called Night Thinker, due out on 21st April.

The song, which you can stream below, features Shark’s vocals backed by electronic percussion and swells of synth, but retains her personal lyrical style.

“‘Weekends’ is an extremely personal song,” Shark says.

“I actually wrote the guitar part about five years ago which sounds crazy, but I couldn’t think of any lyrics good enough to match the guitar so I let it go for so many years, until now!

“I’m so excited to announce the release of my debut EP Night Thinker, this body of work has been brewing for a very long time, I held nothing back on this EP and it’s going to be an incredible feeling once it’s finally released to the world.”

‘Adore’ took out second place on triple j‘s Hottest 100 of 2016, during which Shark announced a national headline tour, which kicks off in Hobart tonight before heading around the country.

Shark is also set to perform as part of Groovin The Moo and BASSINTHEGRASS festivals in the coming months.
