At The Gates Announce First Ever Australian Tour This October

One of the greatest acts in metal to date, the newly reunited At the Gates, have announced today that they will be locking in a long-overdue Australian tour, news that has been met with deafening approval from the metal community.

At the Gates has been created with fusing the breakdown with metal music, something we are all so very thankful for. However, it doesn’t stop there: the band’s recordings play like a man possessed, the fury, and energy and the sheer talent of the Swedish metallers is almost unparalleled. What is even more remarkable is how easily they seem to translate those qualities into their live performance, something that we can finally, for once, hold our heads up high and say we’ve witnessed.

I was 5 years old when Slaughter of the Soul, the band’s arguable Pièce de résistance, was released in 1995. The release is almost more relavent today given the countless acts it has inspired (think basically any band with a breakdown). This album was so influential and so awesome at the time of release that the band began doubting if they would release anything else, fearing follow-up releases would just be a let down.

The demand for At The Gates was through the roof, having truly defined Swedish metal, and gave a massive middle finger to their neighbouring countries who had once held the crown as the most metal places in the world. However, in 1996 it all caved in, with the key songwriters ditching the project to start none other than The Haunted.

You will kick yourself if you miss this. Don’t be ‘that guy’ or ‘that girl’ who had something better on.
