British India Announce Huge 2019 East Coast Tour

Aussie rock mainstays British India have announced a huge east coast tour after a bit of a hiatus, and they’re bringing an old friend along with them for the ride.

The band announced a hiatus last year, and now they’ve returned with a new guitarist that the band has known for a while. His name is Jack Tosi, and the British India lads have known since high school.

“We’ve known Jack since high school, in fact, his band beat British India in battle of the bands back in the early days!” frontman Declan Melia said in a statement.

“So, I don’t think it was a surprise that Matt asked him.  It’s no exaggeration to say that Nic was the only guitarist we had ever played with, so that’s why we were surprised when it all gelled so easily with Jack.  We were halfway through the second song when I turned to Matt and smiled like, ‘this is going to work’, that kid can play a guitar man! I’m so excited for these shows, it’s going to be a really strange and vibrant feeling. It’s going to be amazing actually. Where will it lead?  Who knows, but you know us, we love this music and this band too much to stop.”

The new British India lineup will be kicking off this tour in Albury in October before taking on ten more dates up and down the east coast, wrapping things up in Forth, Tasmania in late November.

Midnight Oil: 10 Essential Tracks

As the Oils would be eager to emphasise, they’re a rock band first and foremost and not some political communications enterprise. As such, their catalogue remains a great source of entertainment and uplifting power.
