Cake Australian Tour 2012 – Harvest Festival Sideshows

Having not just survived the 20-year mark, but thriving through the landmark, seminal 90’s outfit Cake have announced their official Harvest Festival headlining sideshows.

Cake’s Australian appearance matches up very nicely with the band’s most recent studio release Showroom of Compassion. The 6th full-length album from the band demonstrates that the group is still the “personality-laden, culturally-aware and academically-endowed outfit” they were when they began in the 90s as an affront to the grunge movement.

Few outfits survived taking such a unique stance against the movement that Cake saw as “just another form of big, dumb American rock”, which is why you would be hard pressed to find a peer, or even a similar group to the band. Cake is, however, very much at home on the lineup for this year’s Harvest Music Festival. They will be joining the likes of Beck, Ben Folds Five, The War On Drugs, Grizzly Bear and Beirut, who have all recently announced their own headlining shows while in town for the festival.
