Cat Power Won’t Be Doing Laneway 2013

Just as we thought Cat Power was 99.99% locked in to play next year’s Laneway Festival, it turns out she won’t be doing the festival after all.

The Music Feeds team’s hopes of the indie songstress playing at the popular festival next year were dashed by a tweet from the festival’s promoters, saying she would not be performing at Laneway 2013. See the tweet at the bottom of the page.

“Cat power will not be playing Laneway… Bill is now set though and we’re salivating.”

Originally, we thought the stars had aligned when Power told triple j on Monday that she would be heading our way in February for a series of headlining dates.

“I just confirmed it,” she told the station. “The last Australian date is February 9th, that’s all I know.”

This followed a tweet from Laneway Festival organisers on the same day, saying that female acts would “once again take centre stage” at the Festival this year.

The festival’s 2013 dates were revealed on Friday – with the final leg taking place in Perth on February 9.

However, with these latest developments, it’s now clear that Power will be coming for her own tour in early February.

The Laneway 2013 lineup will be revealed on September 26 – Music Feeds will have it for you when it drops.
