Two acts from the devilish Dark Mofo 2025 lineup have announced a stack of national headline tour dates in line with their appearances at the Tasmanian midwinter festival. In their Australian debut, mysterious US experimental duo Clown Core will perform four headline dates across mainland Australia this June, while US avant-garde electronic outfit Machine Girl have announced a trio of East Coast dates.
Clown Core will kick things off at Brisbane’s The Triffid on Wednesday, 4th June, before heading to Sydney’s Metro Theatre on the Thursday and then Hobart on the Friday to play Dark Mofo. The duo will then hit Melbourne’s 170 Russell on Sunday, 8th June before wrapping things up in Perth at The Rechabite on Tuesday, 10th June.
Clown Core – ‘Hell’
Meanwhile, armed with their album, MG Ultra, Machine Girl will touch down in Hobart for Dark Mofo on Saturday,14th June, before playing Melbourne’s Northcote Theatre on Monday 16th, Sydney’s Metro Theatre on Wednesday 18th and finishing up the run at Brisbane’s The Triffid on Thursday19th.
Dark Mofo 2025 will take place from Thursday, 5th June to Sunday, 15th June 2025 across Nipaluna/Hobart with an ambitious art and music program, alongside all your fave time-honoured rituals including Winter Feast, the Ogoh-Ogoh, Night Mass and the Nude Solstice Swim, which will be baring all on Saturday, 21st June.
This year’s instalment will be headlined by Portishead singer Beth Gibbons, who tops a bill that also packs 19 Australian-exclusive music performances, including from Clown Core, US rap and R&B queen Tierra Whack, Darkwave modern torchbearers Cold Cave, US prog metallers Baroness and loads more.
The midwinter festival will commandeer deconsecrated churches, rooftops, basements, bars, bank vaults and the shores of River Derwent. Dark Mofo will also stretch its tentacles to a theatre in Launceston and the planetarium in Ulverstone.
