Following yesterday’s surprise announcement that Prince will be return to Australian shores later this month (this month!) as part of his Piano & A Microphone tour, the Purple One has today announced the dates and ticketing details for the impending tour.
Prince will kick off the tour by performing four shows at Melbourne State Theatre on February 16th and 17th, two shows at the Sydney Opera House on February 20th and two shows at Sydney State Theatre on February 21st.
Prince will also perform for the very first time in New Zealand at Auckland’s ASB Theatre on February 24th.
US dates of Prince’s Piano & A Microphone tour have seen him perform in intimate setting with only a piano and a microphone at his disposal. According to a statement, the lucky attendees will for these few shows are promised a special once-in-a-lifetime experience. The set list will pull from Prince’s 39-album-deep catalogue and each performance will have a unique set-list that evolves in real time, song-to-song.
Prince is expected to perform special interpretations of his many hits alongside rarely performed B-sides and new, never-before-heard material. Previous set lists have featured songs Prince has written for other acts including The Time, Sheila E. and Vanity 6; covers of songs by Joni Mitchell, Paul Robeson and Ray Charles; and even a Thelonious Monk-style version of the theme to Batman.
Tickets for all Australian shows will go on sale at 12 noon AEDT on Tuesday February 9 and for the New Zealand shows at 12 noon NZDT on Thursday February 11, 2016.

SPECIAL TICKETING ARRANGEMENTS:
Ticket purchases for the show will be limited to two (2) tickets per person via the venues and ticketing companies noted above. No tickets will be distributed. At the time of purchase, the purchaser’s name will be recorded and a corresponding receipt issued. Physical tickets will only be available for collection from noon on the night of the concert. Photo ID will be required to match the name previously advised and individuals will be wrist-banded before entering the auditorium.
