DMA’S Announce Surprise EP Ahead of Long Awaited Australian Tour

A new DMA’S record?! Now?! In 2021?!

It’s happening people; the beloved Sydney trio have dropped a surprise four-track on us to keep appetites properly whet until their live shows kick off in September.

The EP serves as a bit of a love letter for the DMA’S fans who have been with the band since the beginning, as well as for those who can still hear those early influences strong in their music today. Titled I Love You Unconditionally, Sure Am Going To Miss You, the record features ‘We Are Midnight’ – capturing the classic DMA’S mood that marked their 2016 breakthrough recordHills End.

“This EP was in the natural trajectory that you can sometimes take in a band,” says Johnny Took.

“You work with different producers, and you want to keep changing, but there’s also something in your core that pulls you back. It’s cool to get back to your roots sometimes.”

For I Love You Unconditionally… DMA’S holed themselves up in Coogee with Dylan Adams, who also engineered their debut EP. Coming off the back of their acclaimed 2020 album THE GLOWa record this like this is a fun touchstone point for the trio. A reminder of where they’ve come from – “they’ll always be the same band that used to throw a mattress against the wall to record demos in Johnny Took’s flat” – and a point of reference for where DMA’S are headed next.

In an added bonus for the vinyl-loving DMA’S fans, they’ll be able to cop the new EP on a limited edition Blue Truman 12″ run come Friday, October 8th. You can pre-order the album here.

The announcement of the I Love You Unconditionally… EP comes as DMA’S are eagerly anticipating their return to live stages around Australia next month. The Australian shows are kicking off a huge new chapter of touring for the band, who will be returning to the U.K. and Ireland at the end of the year to knock out their rescheduled international tour.

Before they do though, DMA’S are gonna get reacquainted with fans from Freo to Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. Some tickets still remain so if you’re on the fence, you can still cop them via the Frontier Touring website.
