Freddie Gibbs 2015 Australian Tour Announced

US rapper Freddie Gibbs, last in the country as part of 2013’s OutsideIn Festival, has announced he will return to Australia for three shows in 2015.

Gibbs will take the stage at Sydney’s Basement on Tuesday, 24th February, followed by Perth’s Villa on Friday, 27th February and will conclude his short run with a show at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel on Saturday, 28th February.

Prior to his Australian run, Gibbs will also play two shows in New Zealand, starting with Auckland’s The Studio on Friday 20th February and Wellington’s James Cabaret on Saturday 21st February.

The Indiana MC’s latest album Pinata, made in collaboration with Madlib and released earlier this year, has been widely regarded as one of 2014’s best hip-hop records. It features contributions from Raekwon, Earl Sweatshirt, Danny Brown and many more.

Gibbs will also tour with material form his last solo album, 2013’s ESGN as well as tracks from his rich back catalogue including a rap reworking of Flume’s Holdin On. His new solo record Lifestyles of the Insane is due out in 2015.

Last month it was reported that Gibbs was the target of a shooting in Brooklyn that left two members of his entourage injured. The incident occurred outside a record store where Gibbs had just performed and the rapper was left unscathed.
