Jimmy Barnes has cancelled the first two shows of his upcoming 30th anniversary national tour due to ill-health. Barnsey has been recovering from emergency back surgery over the past few weeks and today announced that upon doctor’s orders he will not be able to perform the tour’s first two shows.
Barnsey’s 30:30 Hindsight show at the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre has been moved from Wednesday, 1st October to Wednesday, 15th October and the Friday, 3rd October Canberra Theatre show will now take place on Wednesday, 29th October. No mention was made of the tour’s other dates.
Barnsey announced last week that he was withdrawing from upcoming promotional commitments in celebration of his number 1 album 30:30 Hindsight, due to further complications and setbacks from elective back surgery. He said he hoped 10 days of bed rest would be enough to recover in time for the start of the tour.
“30 years of back breaking work broke my back!” said Barnes. “But seriously I’m incredibly grateful for the many messages I’ve received from fans and also the fantastic media support but I hate missing live shows more than anything and the doctors have told me very clearly that I need to rest before the start of the tour in two weeks’ time so that is my focus”.
Unfortunately, according to doctors, that time was not enough. Tickets purchased for the original shows will be valid for entry into the rescheduled concert. Those who are are unable to attend the new date should contact the venue or ticketing agency for a refund. See the updated tour dates below.
