Lorde Announces New Album ‘Virgin’

After sharing her first solo music in four years last week in the form of comeback single ‘What Was That, Lorde has now dropped the big news you’ve been waiting for. The Kiwi alt-pop megastar has officially announced the imminent arrival of her fourth studio album.

Dubbed Virgin, the follow-up to her 2021 Solar Power LP will arrive next month, due to hit our eardrums on Friday, 27th June.

Lorde – ‘What Was That’

The new record will mark Lorde’s first full-length body of work in four years, and is promising a bold evolution in her sound and storytelling.

Our first taste of this new musical era, ‘What Was That’ (listen above) was produced by the artist herself in collaboration with Jim-E Stack (Bon Iver) and Grammy-winning producer of the Year, Dan Nigro (Chappell Roan, Olivia Rodrigo).

Lorde, AKA Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor, describes the melancholy and achingly euphoric track as “the sound of my rebirth”. And said rebirth has already made a huge impact, with the song hitting #1 on Spotify in the US — marking Lorde’s first US #1 on the platform since ‘Royals’.

You can listen to it up above, or pre-order Lorde’s new album HERE.
