Margret RoadKnight to Launch Final Album ‘LONG TIME…’ at Melbourne’s Wheeler Centre

Celebrated folk and blues artist Margret RoadKnight has announced she’ll be launching her new album LONG TIME… at Melbourne’s Wheeler Centre next month. The launch also serves as RoadKnight’s 80th birthday party and a celebration of the underground folkie’s 60th anniversary of performing and recording music.

RoadKnight will appear at the Wheeler Centre on Wednesday, 29th November, for an evening of live performance, stories, image and audio presentations, and more. The compilation album LONG TIME… pulls together the “second act” of RoadKnight’s career, featuring recordings from 1988 to 2023.

Margret RoadKnight: ‘Girls In Our Town’

The album contains 20 tracks, including RoadKnight’s most famous song, ‘Girls In Our Town’. The track was originally released in 1976, with an updated version appearing on RoadKnight’s 1993 album Fringe Benefits. The full album will arrive this Friday, 27th October. RoadKnight has described LONG TIME… as her final album before she hangs up the microphone for good.

‘Girls In Our Town’ was a top 40 hit for RoadKnight, and she’d go on to release many acclaimed albums – first via the imprint Festival Records, and then independently. LONG TIME… will feature a bunch of unreleased material that was recorded as recently as this year. You can listen to a recent interview with RoadKnight on Triple R here.
