Mark Seymour Announces New Album and 2024 National Tour

Mark Seymour & The Undertow will release their new album, The Boxer, on Friday, 19th April 2024. It’s the fifth album credited to Seymour & The Undertow, and the Hunters & Collectors leader’s 11th album since launching a solo career in the late 90s.

The album will be followed by a national tour through April, May and June 2024. The tour will begin in St Kilda on Friday, 19th April. There’ll be shows in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia before tour wraps up at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel on Saturday, 8th June.

Mark Seymour & The Undertow to release their first album since 2020

Mark Seymour & The Undertow’s forthcoming album The Boxer is the follow-up to 2020’s Slow Dawn. “We’ve thrown everything at these songs,” Seymour said in a statement. “Portraits of women, men, urban decay. Life in a landscape of uncertainty. And love, of course. You can never abandon that. After all, beyond despair”

The album will contain 11 tracks and feature the playing of Cameron McKenzie on guitar, John Favaro on bass and Peter Maslen on drums. The group will also be joined by special guest Cameron Bruce on keys. The title track is set to be released in February 2024, while the full album will be out in April.

The Boxer will be launched under the Bloodlines label, a subsidiary of the iconic Mushroom Group. “As the Mushroom Group celebrates 50 years, we’re honoured to have a brand-new album from Mark Seymour, one of our greatest songwriters,” said Dean McLachlan, managing director of the Bloodlines label.

“Mark has been part of the Mushroom family for more than 40 years, and The Boxer is, in my humble opinion, his finest hour.”
