Morrissey Australia Tour Dates For 2012 Confirmed

It looks like the possibility of Morrissey visiting Australian and New Zealand shores is becoming more and more likely after popular Morrissey fan site True To You revealed that venues and dates have now been confirmed. Out of the six NZ/Australian shows that he will likely play, the following December dates have been confirmed: Vector Arena in Auckland on the 15th, Festival Hall in Melbourne on the 19th and the Opera House in Sydney on the 22nd.

Rumours have been building since the beginning of the year, when he announced that he would be performing dates around the Asia Pacific region. Though Australia was not originally mentioned, it was thought that he would stop off here as well as New Zealand. The tour will follow the close of his 35-date US tour, which will also see him appear on The Jimmy Fallon Show, The Jimmy Kimmel Show and The Colbert Report.

In June, the band’s drummer Matt Walker quit the group after 6 years with Morrissey. At the time, Walker took to Twitter saying “things are weird and getting weirder”. A statement was released on Morissey’s website, saying: “Our little covered wagon has lost drummer Matt Walker, who was eager to bring his term to an end. No bargainings could persuade him to stay, and his interest drew its last breath at Stockton.”
