Promoters Fuzzy have quashed any speculation regarding the line up for Parklife 2013 after revealing that they’re retiring the brand, for this year at least. Instead, the organisers have announced what they call a “desperately needed” touring event they’ve dubbed Listen Out, a national “intelligent dance music event” set to hit Sydney, Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane in spring this year.
With the Sopranos-esque tag line of “Party. Redefined.” and the promise of intimate inner-city venues across the country, it sounds like Fuzzy are trying something altogether new. The blurb on their new Facebook page describes the event thus:
“Listen Out brings quality dance music to four spectacular inner city venues across Australia this spring.
Listen Out is the antidote to many of the things you don’t like about big music festivals. It is a carefully handcrafted party, with a killer lineup of the dance music that matters and a philosophy of best, not biggest. Say goodbye to endless timetable clashes, long hikes to the 12th stage and spending your day with several thousand people you can’t relate to.
Listen Out is the right party, and we mean party not festival, for the right people.”
Sounds like this may be a smaller but well-curated shindig for the more discerning dance music lover. The incredibly exciting thing about the announcement is that not only do we have dates, venues and ticket prices for the event, we’ll only have to wait until this Friday, 21st June for the first line up announcement, and then tickets are going on sale next week on Thursday, 27th June!
Does this mean we’ll see Disclosure hit Listen Out instead of Parklife now? Time to bust out the wallets again, kids – line up season is in full swing!
