Sigur Rós Announce ‘Valtari’ Release Date

Sigur Rós have announced on their fan message board that their new album Valtari will be released on the 28th of May. Valtari will be the band’s 6th studio album, marking how far the band have come since their track The Nothing Song was picked up on the Vanilla Sky soundtrack all those years ago.

The new album was produced by Jónsi and Alex Somers. In an interview with COS, the band described the album’s sound as “ambient, introverted, floaty, and minimal”.

Sigur Rós have also been named as a possible act for this year’s Splendour In the Grass line-up. With the album due out late May and a run of European tour dates that don’t kick off until August, this is definitely still on the cards.
