Slowly Slowly And Kisschasy Head Up ‘Homegrown: Sounds Of Victoria’ Mini-Fest

Melbourne-based pop-punk bands Slowly Slowly and Kisschasy have teamed up to co-headline a new mini-fest as part of the Victorian Government’s Live Music Restart Program entitled Homegrown: Sounds Of Victoria. The two events will take place across Melbourne and Ballarat next month, taking over the Port Melbourne Industrial Centre for the Arts (PICA) and Kryal Castle respectively.

In addition to headlining the event, Slowly Slowly will also pull double duty at the event by performing as their alter-egos TOOSLOW. The band’s melodic-punk side project released two EPs in 2023: This Body is a Rental in August and Cool Story in December. Also playing between bands at both events will be the Melbourne DJ collective Emo Never Sleeps.

Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers and WAAX will be exclusive to Melbourne, while Ballarat’s edition will feature a rare performance from The Getaway Plan – belatedly commemorating the 15-year anniversary of their 2008 debut Other Voices, Other Rooms with a set performing the album in its entirety. Full line-ups for both events can be found below.

Slowly Slowly – ‘Jellyfish’

Slowly Slowly released their fourth studio album Daisy Chain in November of 2022. They toured extensively in support of the album in 2023, including festival appearances at Groovin The Moo and Good Things as well as their own headlining tour and mini-festival. They also entered the triple j studios to partake in the Like a Version segment for the second time in their career. Their cover of blink-182‘s 2003 single ‘I Miss You’ proved to be one of the most popular Like A Versions of the year, coming in the Hottest 100 of 2023 at number 99.

Kisschasy, meanwhile, reunited at the 2022 edition of Good Things. There, they played their first shows in seven years following their 2015 split, with their set consisting of their 2005 debut United Paper People in its entirety. This was followed by a national tour in 2023, supported by Towns and Bec Stevens.
