Spin Doctors Cancel Australian Tour Weeks Before Kickoff

This one’s a bit of a heartbreaker for the ‘90s kids.

US alt-rock staples Spin Doctors have officially pulled the plug on their long-awaited Australian return, cancelling their upcoming Pocket Full Of Kryptonite anniversary tour just weeks before it was set to kick off.

Spin Doctors – ‘Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong’

In a message to ticketholders, promoters Destroy All Lines confirmed the May run has been scrapped due to “unexpected logistical shifts & circumstances.” The band added they’re incredibly grateful for the support from fans across Australia and New Zealand, and are working to find a way to come back as soon as possible.

The tour – originally announced back in November – would’ve marked Spin Doctors’ first Aussie shows since 1993, with plans to perform their breakout 1991 album Pocket Full Of Kryptonite in full. That record, of course, went on to become a monster, spawning hits like ‘Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong’ and ‘Two Princes’, topping the Aussie charts and eventually going 5x Platinum.

It also carried a bit of personal weight for frontman Chris Barron, who spent part of his childhood living in Australia – something he’s spoken about fondly in recent interviews, recalling everything from Vegemite sandwiches to wandering around Sydney Harbour like core memory fuel.

At this stage, there’s no word yet on rescheduled dates… but it sounds like the band are keen to make it happen when they can.

For now, Aussie fans will just have to keep those Two Princes singalongs on ice a little longer.
