Al Jardine – a founding member of The Beach Boys – has announced his debut solo tour of Australia for October 2025. He will be joined on the tour by the Pet Sounds Band, which features his son Matt as well as several musicians who worked extensively with Jardine’s late bandmate Brian Wilson on his solo endeavours. The full list of dates and ticketing information can be found below.
Jardine last toured Australia in 2016, where he joined Wilson on what ended up being his final Australian tour. They were joined by fellow Beach Boy alumni Blondie Chaplin as a special guest, and performed at that year’s Bluesfest as well as at the Sydney Opera House – where they performed The Beach Boys’ seminal 1966 Pet Sounds album in its entirety to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
Al Jardine – ‘Help Me Rhonda’
Jardine was The Beach Boys’ original rhythm guitarist when they formed in 1961 – joined by Wilson on bass, as well as Wilson’s brothers Carl (lead guitar) and Dennis (drums), plus the Wilsons’ cousin Mike Love on vocals. Jardine left before the band released their debut album, 1962’s Surfin’ Surfari, but returned in 1963 as the band’s bassist; by this point, Brian Wilson had shifted to playing piano. He switched to guitar in 1965 following the hiring of Bruce Johnson, and remained in the band until 1998. He rejoined for the band’s 50th anniversary tour in 2011, as well as for 2012’s studio album That’s Why God Made The Radio. Jardine, Brian and guitarist David Marks quit following the tour.
Although Jardine had planned the tour as far back as last year, the tour has shifted from being a celebration of The Beach Boys’ catalogue to a tribute to Brian Wilson following his passing last week at the age of 82. In a tribute post shared to his social media accounts, Jardine described Wilson as “my friend, my classmate, my football teammate, my Beach Boy bandmate and my brother in spirit.”
“I will always feel blessed that you were in our lives for as long as you were,” Jardine wrote. “I think the most comforting thought right now is that you are reunited with Carl and Dennis, singing those beautiful harmonies again. You were a humble giant who always made me laugh and we will celebrate your music forever. Brian, I’ll really miss you. Still, I have the warmth of the sun.”
