The Drums Announce 2014 Australian Tour

Brooklyn-based indie-rockers The Drums have confirmed they will return to Australia for a short run of headline shows this November and December, backed by their newly released third studio album Encyclopedia.

The Drums last toured Australia in 2012 as part of Laneway Festival, and played sideshows with Cults whilst in the country. Since then, founding member Connor Hanwick has left the group, and the melancholic surf-pop outfit have come back from the brink of a break-up.

The band’s other founding members, Jonny Pierce and Jacob Graham, remained defiant despite the turmoil within the group. “It was a beautiful moment for us, and also a scary one,” Pierce says. “But we’d always rather do something that feels risky than do something that feels safe. That’s the dangerous area for us; when everything feels like it’s just chugging away on cruise control.”

Now returned to their foundations, The Drums appear keen to start things afresh. “We’re back where we started and the slate is clean,” Pierce notes. “Jacob and I were the brains behind this in the first place and we can make any decisions we want right now.”

The Drums are set to perform at Brisbane’s The Hi-Fi on Saturday, 29th November, Sydney’s Metro Theatre on Sunday, 30th November and Melbourne’s The Corner Hotel on Tuesday, 2nd December. Full tour and ticket details are available below.
