The Used‘s biggest Australian tour ever just keeps getting bigger. The emo/alt-rock icons have expanded their 25th anniversary run this August and September, announcing yet another new show and naming some huge local support acts to boot.
The final stop to be added to the ambitious itinerary will take place at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre on Thursday, 9th August, with Bert McCracken & co playing their 2007 album Lies For The Liars in full.
The Used – ‘Taste Of Ink’
As part of their silver jubilee celebrations, The Used will be playing three of their classic albums in full – 2002’s self-titled debut, its 2004 follow-up In Love & Death and Lies For The Liars – across a whopping 21 dates spanning Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth.
Warming up the stage for The Used for the first 10 shows will be Canberra rockers Hands Like Houses (from Thursday, 7th August – Wednesday, 20th August), while Hevenshe – that’s the solo project of Tonight Alive frontwoman Jenna McDougall – will take over support duties on the final 11 (from Friday 22nd August – Saturday, 6th September).
“These first three records are what put The Used on the map,” McCracken said in a press statement. “I can’t wait to experience the joy in playing all three records from front to back. I know it will be an amazing time.”
Bassist Jeph Howard added: “We feel extremely lucky and humbled to have been a part of something way bigger than ourselves for the past 25 years. To everyone that has been there from the beginning, or is just starting out your adventure with us: thank you.”
The Used last toured Australia in April of 2023, which was a co-headlining tour with Papa Roach. Since the band were last here, they have released a further two studio albums: 2023’s Toxic Positivity and last year’s Medz. Their relationship with Australia stems back nearly 20 years, having first toured in May of 2005 – with McCracken ultimately moving to Sydney and becoming a bonafide citizen in 2013.
