Trans and Non-Binary Festival TRANSGENRE Announces Inaugural Lineup: Cry Club, Those Who Dream + More

TRANSGENRE, a new festival dedicated to trans and non-binary musicians, has announced its debut lineup. The festival has been designed to bring trans and non-binary musicians “out of the periphery”. In that way, it is that rare thing in the Australian landscape – an inclusive festival that represents the full diversity of local talent.

Topping the lineup is Cry Club. The band have amassed a significant following over the last few years, honing a sound that contains anthemic choruses and innovative sonic experimentation. Imagine the exuberance of K-pop, mixed with the harder edges of pop-punk, and you have something a little like Cry Club.

The lineup also contains Those Who Dream, an alternative rock outfit made up of two siblings, Josh and Hazel Meyer. Elsewhere on the lineup is Nonnie, Blake Williams, Final Girls, Cherish, FVNERAL, and more.

TRANSGENERE is an all-ages event, with the entire festival going down over the course of a single day. The schedule contains no clashes, so audiences can drink up everything that the festival has to offer.

“Personally, we hope this festival encourages people – cis, trans and everyone in-between – to pay closer attention to the wealth of gender diversity that exists in the Australian music industry, and be louder in supporting it,” the festival said in a statement.

TRANSGENRE will take place at the Red Rattler Theatre on Gadigal Country (Eora/Sydney) on Sunday, 17th December. Tickets are available here.
