ORIGINAL STORY: Fresh from dropping some juicy lineup clues, Victoria’s UNIFY Gathering heavy music festival has revealed exactly when it will announce its 2019 lineup, while also teasing details of its new location.
Next year’s UNIFY lineup will be announced on Thursday, 9th August, just as Unified Music Group’s Chief Creative Officer Luke Logemann teased last month.
The 2018 edition of UNIFY was supposedly the last at the festival’s home in Tarwin Lower’s Recreation Reserve, with the festival now moving to a new site elsewhere in Tarwin Lower, which organisers have been working on for over 12 months.
In a statement, organisers say they are moving sites so that they can “deliver a higher quality of festival experience… for as long as possible”.
The new location will feature more space, a bigger stage, more toilets, a “more streamline” entry process, a larger ‘Corner Store’ and more food vendors.
“We found this new location mid-2017 and we planned our move from then,” organisers say.
“It’s a private farm and we have a long-term lease with full support from our local community. The owner is a friend who is involved with the Recreation Centre and has helped us from the start. We’ve started building the site and planning out how to use it to the best of our ability.”
While the exact location of the site is yet to be announced, a video released by organisers (below) gives a first look at the new venue.
Taking place over three days in January, UNIFY Gathering is 2019 reportedly hoping to attract 12,500 festival-goers, up from 7,500 in 2018.
While the lineup is still to be announced, UNIFY organisers have confirmed that a number of the acts listed on an “obviously fake” lineup poster which hit the internet earlier this month are actually on the real lineup.
Luke Logemann previously told Music Feeds his team have taken some risks with their new roster.
“It’s creative and awesome, and we even took some risks we think are going to be incredible for our audience,” he said in June.
The 2018 UNIFY Gathering lineup featured the likes of Parkway Drive, Architects, The Amity Affliction and Tonight Alive.
Stay tuned to Music Feeds for the 2019 roster as soon as it drops.
"The new site was a blank canvas. Do you know how amazing that felt?"
