2014 ARIA Awards Return To Sydney’s Star

The 28th Annual Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Awards will take place on Wednesday, 26th November 2014, returning to the Event Centre at The Star in Sydney after its first year in the venue last year.

The 2013 ARIA Awards show was a sold out event, and this year’s music industry celebrations will surely be just as popular, with organisers promising live performances, collaborations and special guests.

2014 has seen Australian artists such as Iggy Azalea, Sia and 5 Seconds Of Summer rising up music charts around the world. Locally, 11 Australian albums have reached #1 on the ARIA charts in 2014, with Aussies holding the #1 spot in 19 out of 38 weeks. ARIA even unveiled a new ARIA #1 Chart Award earlier this year to keep up with all the chart-climbing Australian artists.

The #1 spot on the ARIA Singles Chart has been claimed by three Australian singles this year, including Justice Crew’s Que Sera, which now holds the record as the longest running Australian #1 after sitting at the position for nine consecutive weeks.

ARIA Chief Executive Officer Dan Rosen has shared his excitement, saying, “The ARIAs are the flagship event of the Australian music calendar – a celebration of all that is great and popular in local music.

“2014 has delivered an extraordinary year in Australian music – not only have Australian artists seen increased success locally, but they are making their stamp globally and we look forward to celebrating these feats on the ARIA Stage with stellar live performances, unforgettable collaborations and special guest appearances.”

ARIA Week, a program involving showcases, curated performances and conferences, will also return in 2014 to offer the music community plenty of space to network and discover new music. The ARIA Week schedule will be released in the coming weeks.

The four publicly voted 2014 awards, for Song Of The Year, Best International Artist, Best Australian Live Act and Best Video, will give Australian music fans a chance to have their say. Voting for those categories will open on Tuesday, 7th October.

Winners of the ARIA Artisan Awards (Engineer Of The Year, Producer Of The Year and Best Cover Art) and Fine Arts (Best Classical Album, Best Jazz Album, Best World Music Album and Best Original Soundtrack/Cast/Show Album) are to be announced at the 2014 ARIA Nominations event on Tuesday, 7th October at the Art Gallery of NSW.

The 2014 ARIA Awards are presented by Telstra and supported by the NSW Government’s Destination NSW events agency. The ARIA Award Ceremony, as well as the David Jones Red Carpet, will be broadcast on the TEN Network.
