Boney M. Add New Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide Shows to 2024 Australian Farewell Tour

German-Caribbean pop outfit Boney M. are coming to Australia in June 2024 to say their last goodbyes. Led by vocalist Maizie Williams, the group will perform in Perth, Newcastle, Wollongong, Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Adelaide, Auckland and Wellington. Ticket demand has led to the announcement of new shows in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Penrith. Details below.

The tour is officially billed as Boney M featuring Maizie Williams. Williams – who was born on the small Caribbean island of Montserrat and later moved to Birmingham in England’s West Midlands – was an original member of Boney M. However, it’s claimed that her vocals didn’t feature on any of the band’s classic recordings.

Boney M. – ‘Rasputin’

Boney M. are responsible for a spate of 1970s disco hits, including ‘Rasputin’, ‘Daddy Cool’, ‘Ma Baker’ ‘Sunny’ and ‘Rivers of Babylon’. Both ‘Rasputin’ and ‘Rivers of Babylon’ reached number one on the Australian charts in the late 1970s. Boney M.’s 1978 album, Nightflight to Venus, peaked at number seven in Australia and number one in the UK and Germany.

A different version of Boney M. – Boney M feat Liz Mitchell – is also an active touring unit. Mitchell was one of two lead vocalists in the group’s classic lineup and her voice can be heard on the majority of the band’s best-known recordings.
