Damon Albarn Announces Intimate Melbourne Show

After announcing two Sydney Opera House shows earlier this month, Blur frontman Damon Albarn has now gifted the people of Melbourne with the promise of an intimate performance at the city’s Palais Theatre this December, in support of his recently released debut solo album Everyday Robots.

Not only is this exciting for Albarn’s Melbourne fans, it adds even more weight to suspicions that Albarn might also be travelling down under to perform at the 2014 iteration of Victoria’s Meredith Music Festival, which also takes place in December. [UPDATE 24/07/14 12:26pm AEST: Aunty Meredith has tweeted that Albarn will NOT be performing at Meredith Music Festival this year.]

Albarn’s Melbourne performance, like Sydney’s, will feature the Gorillaz founder’s new live band The Heavy Seas, which includes Seye Adelekan and Jeff Wootton on guitar, Pauli The PSM on drums and Mike Smith on keyboards.

Frontier Touring have confirmed that no further dates will be added to Damon Albarn’s Australian tour this December. The multi-instrumentalist’s Australian solo tour will begin in Melbourne on Friday, 12th December, before its two nights at the Sydney Opera House on the 15th and 16th December.
