Roy Orbison To Tour Australia As A Hologram In 2018

Late rock n’ roll icon Roy Orbison is set to tour Australia again in 2018, 30 years since his death in 1988.

The Big O last toured Australia in 1972, and he — well, his image — is now preparing to return down under for Australia’s first-ever hologram concert tour.

Hitting stages (in the virtual sense) in May next year, Orbison’s likeness will be performing his greatest hits at arenas in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide, backed by a full symphony orchestra.

The tour will also supposedly feature newly recorded and never-before-heard arrangements of his songs, which include earworms like ‘Oh, Pretty Woman’, ‘You Got It’, ‘Crying’ and ‘I Drove All Night’.

The Roy Orbison hologram tour is the latest in a list of hologram tours which have popped up around the world, including performances from the likenesses of Frank Zappa, ABBA and Ronnie James Dio.
