Andy Golledge Returns With ‘Young, Dumb & Wild’, Announces New Album

Sydney-based alt-country singer-songwriter Andy Golledge has shared details of his second studio album Young, Dumb & Wild, sharing its title track to coincide with the announcement.

In a press statement, Golledge explained that despite the album title, the title track was actually “anything but a song about being young, dumb and wild.” Rather, he said: “It’s more about holding onto that inner child that helps you create more freely. It reflects my efforts to come to terms with performance anxiety and setting myself free on stage.”

Prior to the album’s announcement, Golledge had released a new single in mid-2023 entitled ‘Country Band’, which will also feature on Young, Dumb & Wild. That year also saw him release a new stand-alone single entitled ‘Light It to the Wind’, which was included in the third season of the ABC TV series Mystery Road.

Young, Dumb & Wild is the follow-up to Golledge’s debut album, Strength of a Queen. The album, released in 2022, was greeted with a sold-out national tour and a nomination for Best Country Album at that year’s ARIA Awards, as well as a nod for Best Alternative Country Album at the following year’s Golden Guitar Awards.

As with his previous album, Young, Dumb & Wild was recorded with Golledge’s long-serving backing band – bassist Nick Ryan, guitarists Leroy Lee and Ollie Thorpe, banjo player Caitlin Harnett and drummer Josh Piltz. Thorpe has since moved on from the band, however, due to ongoing commitments with both Ian Moss and The Whitlams Black Stump Band.

Later this month, the Andy Golledge Band will head to Golledge’s hometown of Tamworth to perform at this year’s annual Country Music Festival. Others on the line-up include the aforementioned Ian Moss, plus Lee Kernaghan, Troy Cassar-Daley, Kasey Chambers and Fanny Lumsden.
