Hear Alexisonfire’s Dark, Brooding New Single ‘Season Of The Flood’

Alexisonfire have dropped their first single of 2020 with ‘Season of the Flood’, a dark and brooding new slow-burner from the post-hardcore outfit.

The atmospheric new track follows two singles from the band last year, ‘Familiar Drugs’ and ‘Complicit’.

“I’m very proud of this new song,” commented vocalist George Pettit in a statement, who trades his signature howl for more cleaner vocals on the track.

“There were some first time attempts for us and we all really came together in the studio to make this song what it is. This was also my first time singing with Dallas on a song. I know I’ve been playing in a band with Dal for almost 20 years, but damn, that guy’s voice could melt an angel.”

The artwork, featuring the track’s title on a neon-lit sign, maintains the aesthetic theme of the previous two singles – which means we could very well be looking at a new album from the boys on the horizon. Through Alexisonfire reunited back in 2015, they’ve yet to release a new full-length album since 2009’s Old Crows/Young Cardinals, so fingers crossed.

In our interview with the band back in 2019, guitarist Wade MacNeil commented on where the band’s songwriting was headed.

“I’m not entirely sure where it’s at yet. We’ve got a lot of ideas flying about at the moment that we’re really excited to lay down,” he said.

“That said, we’re all adamant about one thing – if we are going to put something out, it’s gotta be the best stuff we’ve ever done. I can’t say if that’s gonna be a new 7-inch, or an EP, or even an LP yet. We’re ready to get at it, though.”
