Empire Of The Sun Announce 2024 Australian Tour

Empire Of The Sun have announced a tour of their native Australia, set to take place across October and November 2024. The four-date run will see the electronic psych-pop act undertake their first proper headlining tour of Australia, having previously only performed either festival dates or one-off shows. A full list of dates, as well as ticketing information, can be found below.

“Australia, we cannot wait to see you all,” said the band’s frontman Luke Steele in a press statement. “Get ready, this is gonna be a wild ride as we embark on a journey unlike any other Empire has been on. New record, new show, new era… let’s go!”

Indeed, the national tour will be in support of Empire Of The Sun’s upcoming fourth studio album Ask That God, which is set for release on Friday July 26th. The album was formally announced last week, with the release of new single ‘Music On The Radio’ – the video for which can be viewed below.

Empire of the Sun – ‘Music on the Radio’

Empire Of The Sun last performed in Australia back in February 2023, where they played Melbourne’s Now & Again festival as well as headlining shows at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney and the Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane. In a review of the former, Music Feeds described Steele’s stage presence as a combination of “theatrical, storytelling performer and fourth-wall breaking frontman”.

“For all the bells and whistles, the strongest moments are when the music outshines the audio-visual choreography and precipitates a tangibly human connection,” it read. “During the group’s three biggest hits – ‘We Are The People’, ‘Walking On A Dream’ and closer ‘Alive’ – friends are up on one another’s shoulders, while Steele runs madly across the stage and points at fans singing along to every last word.”
